Memories

One of my favorite places to go hang out and eat is at Jandy's Frozen Yogurt Shop in Calhoun, Ga. With frozen yogurt being one of my favorite desserts, Jandy's is a perfect place for me to go! The environment is very chill and the shop is so much fun! From the karaoke to the decorative wall and floor designs, there is no way possible to be bored or unhappy there. I remember the first time I ever took my baby niece, Reagan, to Jandy’s. This “eye cream” (ice cream), as she likes to call it, is every childs dream, and boy was she in Heaven! Of course, she went straight for the chocolate flavored yogurt. (It’s her favorite every time we go there.) When it came time to pick out her toppings, Reagan’s eyes lit up and the biggest and most beautiful smile shot across her cute little face! (When she smiles, she looks so much like my brother, who passed away in February. It brings back so many good memories.) Any one would be able to tell that she wanted every single topping presented. She took her time looking back and forth between the strawberries, captain crunch cereal, chocolate and vanilla syrup, crunched up fruity pebbles and graham crackers, chocolate chips, and all of the other toppings. Finally, after minutes of contemplating, giggling, and pointing out the “pretty colors”, Rea-Rea settled for the topping that stood out the most: sprinkles. That particular visit, I enjoyed red velvet yogurt with cheesecake bites as a topping. (My second favorite, next to coconut yogurt with fruity pebbles.)
After I paid for our yogurt, we went and sat down at a table (the chairs spin in circles, so naturally we both loved that) and enjoyed our delicious dessert. About halfway through, Reagan spilled her yogurt all over her dress! She simply looked down at the mess, got wide-eyed, said “Oh no!”, and licked the yogurt off of her fingers! I did all that I could to not burst out in laughter. I don’t think she minded the mess; she was a little bit preoccupied with Dora the Explorer on the television behind me.
She’s definitely my little bundle of joy and that was one of my favorite times ever going to my favorite place eating my favorite dessert.

My Meal

Three nights ago I had spaghetti with tomato sauce (or spaghetti sauce; I’m not really sure what to call it), with water to drink. This is a very popular meal with my family; one that we have at least once a month. My step mother is the one who cooks it, most of the time. There are no special ingredients, no toast as an addition, and not even meatballs or ground beef added! Only spaghetti noodles and sauce (the generic brand, mind you). Though it sounds like I’m complaining, I am most definitely not. Italian, fake or real, generic or name brand ingredients, is my favorite kind of food!
Both the spaghetti noodles and the sauce came from our local grocery store, Food Lion. Though we normally buy our groceries from Sam’s club, Wal Mart, or Kroger, Food Lion is where we go when we are planning a last minute dinner, since it is much, much closer to our home. (And believe me, this dinner was planned VERY last minute. I didn’t even know my step mother, Kris, was cooking! I sure am glad she did, though!)
I highly doubt anything was prepared in order to maintain a healthy dinner. It was more so just cooked because it’s almost a tradition to have spaghetti at our home. Regardless of how this meal was cooked, the people in my household try to maintain a healthy diet. We generally try to avoid eating out, and instead, stay home and eat. My step family was raised eating “organic” food, and my dad and I always ate whatever we pleased. When our two families combined, we came to a consensus to meet in the middle. Little to no sodas, no junk food unless on occasion, and very minimal fast food. But we are not opposed to a little dessert every now and then!
